Its local name is “FALCHAN KANGRI” that means Broad peak. Broad Peak was scaled in June 1957. The first ascent was made by Austrian expedition led by Marcus Schmuck along with Hermann Buhl, Kurt Diemberger and Fritz Wintersteller.Broad peak is technically demanding, with steep ice and rock sections. Climbers face crevasses, sears, and unpredictable weather. It’s not for the faint-hearted.Broad peak is a challenging and rewarding climb, but it’s essential to be well prepared physically, mentally and logistically.
